Travel Photo Tuesday

Hi There! And welcome to my “Travel Photo Tuesday” Series! Thank you for stopping by!

Travel Photo Tuesday is a place to share some awesome shots from Instagram that have been shared with the hashtag #maketimetoseetheworld. Each week I feature a great  photo + story combination and at the end of the month I share 10 of the best snaps under the hashtag from that month. Sounds like fun, right?

So let’s get started!

Have you ever scrolled through Instagram and thought, “man, I need to take that photo”? Well my Travel Photo Tuesday series is here to help! Each week I share an awesome photograph from a fellow travel blogger – and ask them to share  a little about the shot: where it was taken, why it was special and any hidden gems in the area that MakeTimeToSeeTheWorld readers should know about!

If you’d like to be featured on Travel Photo Tuesday, the instructions are at the bottom of the post. And if you want to get an idea of the photo’s I like – check out previous featured posts HERE

Travel Photo Tuesday

Location: Chiang Mai, Thailand

What Made it Great:

This picture was taken in Thailand at Chiang Mai’s Grand Canyon. This hidden treasure is one that is quiet often missed out by tourists visiting the area which is a real shame. Unlike the empty valleys of the Grand Canyon in USA, Chiang Mai’s Grand Canyon is an old quarry that is filled with water. With the sometimes unberable heat from the Thai sun it’s great to have a place like this to escape to where you can swim and if you’re feeling brave enough, there are a couple of cliffs to jump from. The biggest jump is about 14 metres and is a lot of fun. Even if you’re not interested in getting wet I still recommend a visit here to get some stunning photography.

It’s a great place to go to experience a different side of Chiang Mai away from the temples (which are also awesome and worth checking out!) Other quirky and fun things you can do in Chiang Mai is to climb (yes climb!) the sticky waterfall, get a massage from a thai prison, get a massage from a blind person, eat bugs at the Sunday Night Market or enjoy a ladyboy cabaret show.

Love this shot? Love this story? You can follow more of Claire & Danik’s adventures on their blog @ The Curious Explorers or if you’re feeling social you can follow along on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
