Haka Tours was born over a decade ago from the dreams of one man who wanted to reimagine how small group adventure tours were run. From the very first tour in June 2007 until now there’s been no looking back, and 12 years on we’re incredibly proud to be regarded as New Zealand’s leading small group adventure operator. As we’ve grown, we’ve stayed true to our core values which remain the key to our success. Ultimately, when you travel with Haka, you’re not travelling with a multinational corporate or a big international brand, but with an authentic, locally-owned business that puts you, the customer, at the centre of everything we do.

This tour company over promises and under delivers. The description and photos of the accommodation and transport were great, however what we were provided was not even close to what was promised. The bus was old, dirty, and had wonky AC and no sound... Show more

My 16 day Haka tour was absolutely amazing. Our tour guide (Baby Jesus) was the most kind, fun, and helpful person I've ever met. He made a point to learn all of our interests and tailor the tour to suit what we wanted to get out of it. The hostels... Show more

Frequently Asked Questions

    • Is there a hotel list available?

The tour operator has advised that they do not have a full list of accommodations available for the Amplified NZ tour, as the accommodations change so frequently. After the booking is made you will be issued your final trip documents with your specific accommodation details. However, a couple of examples of accommodations they use for this tour are the Haka Hotel in Newmarket, the Haka Lodge in Christchurch, the Haka Lodge in Taupo and YHA in Wanaka - hopefully, this can give you a better idea of the kind of accommodation you can expect on tour.

    • When and where does the tour end?

This tour concludes at approximately 5-6.30 pm at the tour operator's very own Haka Lodge in Christchurch (518 Linwood Ave, Woolston, Christchurch 8062). Luckily, you accommodation on the last night of the tour is included, so feel free to party with your new travel buddies and treat yourself to a lie-in in the morning, where your tour ends after breakfast.

    • When and where does the tour start?

This tour starts at 8 am on the first day of the tour, from the tour operator's very own Haka Hotel in Auckland (located in Newmarket on Manukau road). As this tour has such an early start, you can choose to stay in the hotel the night before the tour starts, which gives you a relaxed start to your Haka experience. Get ready, because on the first day of the tour, you will stop by the famous Hot Water Beach, which thousands visit each year to dig their own personal hot tub.

    • Can you assist with booking additional accommodation?

Of course, we can! Once you have a confirmed booking on this tour, we can request additional accommodation for you with the tour operator.

    • What is the age range?

This tour has an age requirement of 18 years old, which means that children and young travellers under the age of 18 are not eligible to participate in this tour. There is no maximum age limit for this tour and all mature travellers are welcome!

    • I'm a solo traveller, is there a single supplement?

The tour price includes dorm share accommodation but if you would prefer your own space you have the option to upgrade to a private room for the duration of your tour, with the exception of 1 night with a shared cultural experience.

    • Do I need a visa?

As a tour booking website, TourRadar cannot organise visas for you on your behalf as the visa requirements are regularly being updated and vary for the nationality of one traveller to the next. It is for this reason that we recommend checking with your local embassy or consulate website for the latest up to date information.

    • I'd like to know if it is possible to make this trip only until Queenstown?

You can stay on the tour until Queenstown that is fine but unfortunately the price will remain the same. If you finish in Queenstown you would miss the night in Wanaka and two nights in Franz Josef. You could potentially still continue the tour to Wanaka and spend the night/day there and bus from Wanaka to Franz Josef.
